NQT Induction Programme

The NQT Induction Programme furthers the vision, mission and purpose statement of JGF as initiated in 2018, with a core focus of improving the quality of teaching and learning in South Africa.

The overall goal of JGF’s NQT programme is “to attract, train, induct and retain promising young educators who will drive high learning gains in schools in challenging school and community contexts”

  • Cohorts of 30 will be recruited into the NQT Induction Programme.
  • The programme spans 24 months and comprises diverse modules, activities and events aimed at nurturing high-potential novices into confident, professional and reflective educators.
  • Social learning is emphasised, with peers, communities, and cultures influencing the learning process.

Other opportunities to get involved

JGF will create a professional teacher community (PTC).

  • The PTC will comprise of a database of qualified aspiring new teachers awaiting formal recruitment and initiation to the programme.
  • The PTC will expose teachers to various professional development opportunities and knowledge packages.

The GTF currently partners with UWC, UCT, Wits, UJ, UP and SU. Each of these universities offer high-quality PGCE programmes which benefit JGF candidates completing the PGCE programme. Any applicant must ensure their own admission to the partner universities as JGF carries no influence in the relevant universities’ selection processes.
